What nights do BHMTC Meet & Rehearse?
The society meet on a Friday Evening from 7.30pm until 9.45pm. (Other nights may also be arranged depending on show or function taking place)
How much does it cost?
The yearly membership subscription is £24. (There is also a levy on tickets for the main show of 10 tickets for each participating member and other small costs include hire of libretto e.t.c. where neccessary)
How many members are there?
There are currently 80 members approximately, not all of which are performing members but help backstage and Front of house e.t.c
How old do you have to be?
For the main society anyone between the ages of 14 and 80 can join although we do perform a pantomime in January with children as young as 8.
Do I need previous experience or training?
No! not at all. Anyone can come along from people who have never been on the stage before, to people who have been professionally trained. Its a fun and enjoyable hobbie, so everyones welcome.
What do the society perform?
The society perform a Musical in October and a Pantomime in January at the Brierley Hill Civic Hall,(See Website for location and directions),and also a stand up, sit down concert in March at various locations in the borough for charity.
Who decides the show the society perform?
This is decided by the management committee who arrive at a short list from various suggestions given and then by looking into availability, suitablilty, popularity and cost arrive at a decision they feel is the best choice for the society and its members.
How much does a production cost?
This can vary depending on the production itself, as there are many factors involved including lighting, costumes, hire of theatre, orchestra, sets and royalties to name a few. The general cost is usually between £23000.00 and £28000.00. |
